In many cases, this reconstruction can help the person cope with the disease thanks to the ability to rebuild the nipple and areola if it cannot be preserved during the mastectomy. <strong>Also, surgery of the other breast is included so that they remain the same size and shape.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is a breast reconstruction performed?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Breast reconstruction, which is always done under general anesthesia, <strong>can be done in two ways:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Immediate. <\/strong>The breast is removed directly, which allows the surgeon to preserve the skin of that breast minus the areola and the nipple, thus being able to achieve a much more aesthetic result. TO<strong>In this way, both implants and the patient&#039;s own tissues can be used. <\/strong>It is important to know that this intervention does not affect chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment.<\/li><li><strong>Deferred. <\/strong>It is performed once the breast is removed, since, on some occasions, it can happen that at the time of the mastectomy the breast could not be reconstructed and for this reason it must be done later.
